Regionally Sourced Seafood Shines on the Menu at Boston’s New North Square Oyster

A mix of soothing sea-foam greens and wave-crest whites wash part of the dining room at North Square Oyster in ocean-inspired hues, an excellent hint at what’s being crafted in the kitchen. True to its name, North Square Oyster brings fresh, regionally sourced seafood to Boston’s North End, and since it only opened two months ago, you’re among the first to discover this new gem.

That being said, the lobster roll already has a loyal following. It comes two ways: hot or cold. The cold lobster roll is smothered with mayo, celery, and chives, while the hot lobster roll features brown butter. Another popular option is the lobster and oxtail Bolognese, which comes in half and whole servings. Its house-made rigatoni swims with the lobster and oxtail, plus parsnips, ricotta cheese, and rosemary.

Of course, with a name like North Square Oyster, guests can also expect an impressive raw bar. The oyster list offers more than 10 varieties, most of them from Massachusetts or Maine.
