Here are a few of our favorite spots:

J.J. Foley’s Bar and Grill: There are actually two outposts of this classic Boston bar—one in Downtown Crossing and another in the South End. The Downtown Crossing location is closer to One Greenway and offers a casual atmosphere. There’s a back room for large gatherings, and the Guinness is second to none.

Good Life: Want to dance off a long day at the office? Good Life is the place to visit. This spot has two floors with live music or DJs most nights of the week.

Stoddard’s Fine Food and Ale: This craft beer bar in Boston’s Downtown Crossing used to be home to Stoddard’s Fine Cutlery. The owners have rehabbed the space and serve up a wide variety of craft beers and casual, tasty pub food. Bring your hop-head friends to this bar and you’ll never get them to leave.

Sip Wine Bar and Kitchen: Not a fan of beer? Sip is a great place to try a variety of wines. The bar offers pours of varying sizes, so you can try a small sip before you commit to a full glass or bottle. The kitchen turns out tapas-style small plates so you can have a nosh with your sips.

Smith and Wollensky: Nothing beats a steak and a martini. Smith and Wollensky’s Atlantic Wharf offers views of Boston’s Waterfront, seasonal patio dining, and some of the best steaks in the city.Not in the mood for an entire meal? Pull up a seat at the bar and enjoy a small snack from the bar menu.
