Boston is a young city, full of great places to socialize over a pint or a cocktail and One Greenway is a short walk away from some of the city’s best places to hang out. Whether you’re looking for a quality craft beer in a relaxed atmosphere or an expertly made cocktail to enjoy near the dance floor, our neighborhood has it all. Here are a few of our favorite spots: J.J. Foley’s Bar and Grill: There are actually two outposts of this classic Boston bar—one in Downtown Crossing and another in the South End. The Downtown Crossing location is closer to One Greenway and offers a casual atmosphere. There’s a back room for large gatherings, and the Guinness is second to none. Good Life: Want to dance off a long day at the office? Good Life is the place to visit. This spot has two floors with live music
New York may be known as the city that never sleeps, but Boston is no slouch when it comes to events happening around the clock. The MBTA now runs until 2 a.m. on weekends, making it more affordable to enjoy a night out on the town. Not into late-nights anymore? There’s plenty to do during the day as well. How’s a person to keep up? We often turn to social media. Here are some Twitter influencers who keep us in the know. @ConciergeBoston: Adam Castiglioni, a hospitality professional in Boston, follows what’s happening in Boston like it’s his job—because it is. From farmers’ markets to the latest restaurant openings, he’s got the 411 on Boston. @BostonTweet: Watch as Tom O’Keefe eats, drinks, and networks his way across Boston. With more than 130,000 followers, this is the feed to keep an eye on for all things Boston. O’Keefe shares details on
On behalf of all of us at One Greenway, we want to wish you and yours a wonderful holiday! We’re thankful that we’re less than a year away from residents hosting their first Thanksgivings (and Friendsgivings!) in our building. If you find yourself in downtown Boston this weekend, we hope you’ll get to know the neighborhood. Start in Downtown Crossing on Friday, taking advantage of Macy’s Black Friday sales while seeing their beautiful custom-designed window displays. Prefer shopping small? Chinatown Main Streets is ready for Small Business Saturday. Of course, round out your long holiday weekend with Dim Sum in Chinatown on Sunday morning. We hope we’ll see you around the neighborhood this weekend!
The site for One Greenway has a long history—just like all of Boston. Located in the city’s Chinatown neighborhood and next to South Station, the site was home to a diverse community for generations. Syrian-, Lebanese-, and Chinese-Americans and their small shops all called the neighborhood home until the land was taken for highway construction in the early 1960s. Decades later, moving the Central Artery underground as part of the “Big Dig” project opened this land anew. Thanks to our partners at the Asian Community Development Corporation, a comprehensive neighborhood effort ultimately led to this land being returned to its original use as a place for a diverse community to call home. Families of all backgrounds come to the neighborhood to take advantage of the fabulous Rose Kennedy Greenway, a mile and a half-long park that begins at our doorstep that was created by the demolition of the Central Artery.
One Greenway is located in Boston’s vibrant Chinatown neighborhood. On every block, restaurants representing all types of Chinese and other Asian cuisine line the street. Many foodies from around the Boston area come into town for one of the most unique and authentic food opportunities: dim sum. Literally meaning “touch the heart,” dim sum originated with the Cantonese in southern China as small dishes served as snacks alongside tea. Over the centuries, dim sum restaurants became a place for families and friends to enjoy time together on weekends. Asking a Bostonian which dim sum restaurant has touched his or her heart is like asking whether they prefer Mike’s Pastry or Modern Pastry in the North End—it’s bound to cause controversy. Here are some neighborhood favorites that are just a short walk from One Greenway. We’ll leave it to you to decide which will become your go-to spot. Need tips on
